I spent months working 12 hour days sanding floors and tearing down wallpaper with the baby on my back while the other babies were playing in the playpen. Ha! The whole thing started to seem logical, however it was still far from being done. For this project I had planned to spend a considerable amount of time and money searching for the perfect home. To keep within budget, I began taking my kids to estate sales looking for of diamonds. The schedule we had for the week that consisted of spending Friday through Saturday at sale houses and garages, purchasing new and old objects. I spent the rest of the week sanding and painting the driveway. It was a bit like it... That's the time my love of the restoration of furniture first began. Even though our home had been furnished, I could not quit. I rented a booth at the local market and sold pieces there. It was possible to expand my space because I owned numerous pieces I was able to use. The house became a venue in which I held open houses, where up to 1,000 people could view items from my first floor and purchase them. Growing Days is the result from this. My company was flourishing and my family was also growing. The balance was between the start of a company and becoming a mother. Growing Days just seemed to fit. Nora, my 4th kid was born in 2013. Though I was content with the direction my business was taking, I realized that I needed to take some time off. I took a pause from creating vintage furniture and also slowed my pace in order to stay at home and take care of the kids. It was exactly what I was looking for at the moment. After a few months when the phones began to be ringing. I started receiving requests from people requesting to help with their home improvement and design of interiors. These people had mostly attended my house during the open houses to purchase furniture. I began taking on clients one at a time taking my time but it didn't take long before I had several accounts, and I was operating an entire home improvement business. If you'd predicted that this venture that I started would become the basis of a television show on DIY Network I probably would have laughed. Indeed, I am laughing slightly when I recall it.
